JACKSON, Nicola
Nationality: New Zealand
Born: 1960 in Dunedin, New Zealand. “ My work almost primarily deals with people and what they are made of. Through my artwork I investigate the microcosm and the macrocosm of nature and somehow fathom a position for a person in this conglomeration. My study has included the functions of the body; autobiographical record; the consideration of social, psyuchological and pysiological influences on an individual. I am interested in anatomy and the history of anatomical illustration. I often look to this arera when researching ways of representing a person. In using part of a body as a way of presentation I am inerested in the historical significance of body parts as symbols. Since 1985 I have been making small paintings on papier-machẻ bases and a series of installations.
